White Wedding

XO get to perform at a lot of different wedding venues up and down the country. This is a good thing as it keeps things fresh for us when we have a 3 event weekend like we embarked upon on the 18th March. However, if this party band were to consider themselves home at a venue, it would have to be the gorgeous Wotton House Hotel in Dorking. Having performed there 3 times in 2months, it was a great way of rounding off the wedding weekend, this time to help celebrate the nuptials of Zoe Vennard and Nicholas White.

Zoe and Nick actually saw us perform at another local venue last year and quickly got in touch. This is always very special when people see us live and book via that way. We always take it as a big compliment.

The theme of pinks and white merged perfectly with the starcloth provided and our lighting towers, newly decked out in a warm pink glow to match, along with our other lighting upgrades. With the stage set, the happy couple walked to the dancefloor to cut the cake and to take their first dance as man and wife. The soundtrack for such a perfect moment, Ed Sheeran’s lesser known, but equally as moving first dance choice – Kiss Me, from his debut full length album, ‘+’.

The couple danced, gazed into each others eyes lovingly and sang the lyrics to each other before being joined by their nearest and dearest as the song came to a climatic end before XO changed gears and rocked up Bruno Mars’ fantastic debut “Just the way you are”, specifically for Zoe and her Bridesmaids, performed like no other Surrey Party Band can..

With 2 sets of dancefloor classics such as ‘Love Shack’, ‘The way you make me feel’ and the Weeknds new floorfiller ‘Can’t feel my face’, It was time for our final set.

Guests were very enthusiastic for our last and more ‘stadium’ sing along set, featuring hits such as ‘Mr Brightside’, ‘Sex on fire’ and a few herbs and spices from various XO party band constructed medleys of other modern hits. But the biggest pop probably came for when we finished the last set the way we began it, with another Ed Sheeran tune, rounding off the night well. The requested song was Rudimentals ‘Lay it all on me’ which had Zoe leading the charge on the dancefloor with her new husband.

As a final treat we encored with Queens ‘Don’t stop me now’ with Zoe and Nick in the middle of the dancefloor being surrounded by their friends and family to really send the last live set home!

Whilst we had them there.. it would have been rude to not have induced a dance off or two whilst the DJ playlist churned out banger after banger of the Garage set as requested by the happy couple. This saw Nick and Zoe really let loose and show off some of their now trademark moves.

Thank you to the new Mr and Mrs White for having us on your special day! Congratulations again from all of us at XO.
